Rules

A. Eligibility

  1. This competition is open to all homebrewers in the United States.
  2. Commercial and/or Brew-on-Premises (BOP) beers are not eligible.
  3. This is an AHA-sanctioned competition. All standard rules apply.

B. Entry Fees and Deadlines

  1. All entries must be registered online. The fee is $10/entry. Payment online is required. You can print your entry labels once payment is made.
  2. We accept online payments only. A link will be provided on your entry page to the payment site.
  3. You do not need to print a payment receipt. If an entry shows it has not been paid, we will verify on our side.

Rules and Policies

  1. Entries
    1. This competition has a cap of 500 paid entries.
    2. When the cap of 500 paid entries is reached, unpaid entries will not be eligible for entry. It is highly recommended that entries be paid for when they are created.
    3. Entries can be edited before and after payment, up until the shipping/drop-off deadline.
    4. There is an initial cap of 7 entries person to give everyone desiring to enter the opportunity. This cap will be lifted after 14 days with no limits at that point.
  2. Judging, Storage, and Handling
    1. We will try to minimize handling to avoid disturbing bottle-conditioned beers with natural sedimentation. Occasionally this is unavoidable and scores for appearance may reflect this.
    2. All entries are stored cold till they are judged.
  3. Medals
    1. Brewing category winners will receive custom-cast medallions for first, second, and third place for each judging table. A table is defined as a judging session for a set of category styles. Tables may contain split categories and/or subcategories as necessary to maintain competition integrity.
    2. Judges are solely responsibility for determining whether an entry is deserving of a medal.
    3. Judges are solely responsible for determining whether a judging table should receive first, second, or third place medal, based on the scores of the entries. (e.g. The highest score awarded for the judging table is a 29, so judges determined a gold medal would not be awarded.)
    4. We will award Best of Show (BOS) medals for beer, mead, and cider. We will judge all beers, meads and ciders listed in the BJCP Styles Guidelines. All decisions of the judges, competition staff, and organizer will be final, without exception.
  4. Scores, Score Sheets, and Prize Delivery
    1. Winners and BOS are announced at an Awards Ceremony the evening of the last day of judging. Medals and prizes will be handed out to those in attendance.
    2. Score sheets are judged digitally and will be posted on your account page after winners have been announced. We ship medals and prizes to all non-local entrants via U.S. Post Office or other common carrier the week after the competition.
